Everyday Jewelry

Everyone’s personal style is uniquely complemented by their everyday pieces of jewelry. Think: the necklace you shower and sleep with and the rings you only remove to go to the gym. These are the unique pieces with unique stories that completely personalize an outfit. Apparently, you’re meant to choose to wear either gold or silver depending on the undertones of your skin, however, I mix both gold and silver and have a mixed watch to tie them together. My most sentimental pieces are my two necklaces. One is a gold chain and one is a gold heart, both family pieces handed down from my Dad and Grandma. I also wear my high school class ring, a ring my sister got me to match with hers, and a ring I bought for myself in high school to match with my friends that my sister now also has. These are the pieces that I would never leave my house without and each have a story personal to me. Most of my friends have pieces like these as well. Take Kate Tenerowicz, Creative Director of Concrete Catwalk — the number “1” necklace that she wears everyday was a birthday gift from her mother and serves as a reminder of her spirit number. She also frequently sports an evil eye, a dog tag, and an ‘Inshallah’ necklace, a hand me down from when her mom lived in Turkey. The dog tag matches with Head of Blog, Ella Huang.

Both Kate and Ella love to mix metals and lengths in order to create the perfect accessory to their everyday outfits. Ella loves lots of bracelets and eccentrically cool earrings. In addition to these playful accessories, she sticks to the classics with her pearl necklace that has a front toggle clasp. Always carefully curated, Ella matches her jewelry flawlessly to her outfits be it via color, pattern or otherwise. Featured here are even more twists on the classics — her paper clip pearl necklace screams elegance intertwined with personal style.

Similar to Ella and Kate, Rory Kopplin loves a funky combination of jewelry, while also keeping it classy. Her necklace is a gift from her parents — Rory always wears a piece of jewelry that has been given to her by her mom. Her rings are quite the opposite of dainty. They all originate from either thrift stores or small shops from countries she has visited. Rory’s favorites include the diamond shaped warm colored ring cut into squares which she bought in an amber store in Estonia and represents a great trip. Another of her favorites is the band of sparkles which she bought in Vienna at one of the most beautiful churches she has been to.

Paulina Kachalova loves the classics. She’s a silver girl at heart but has been known to wear gold when she’s having some fun! She also wears her two corded bracelets everyday, both of which are gifts from her parents.

Casey Willard is similar to Paulina and myself. Wearing a delicate gold necklace that is never taken off. While I would categorize Kate, Ella and Rory as maximalist accessorizers, I would categorize Paulina, Casey and myself as minimalist ones.

We tend to sport dainty jewelry that goes with every outfit whereas Kate, Ella, and Rory wear eye-catching pieces that are interchanged and complete an outfit. Jewelry is a great way to personalize any outfit especially when you have unique pieces from thrift stores or from family. Everyone loves to be complimented on their accessories, even more so when there’s a story attached.
